  1. Nice one, cheers mate. I had looked at ballistic they look good.
  2. Thank you for the explanation, I was unaware of the difference in Li-ion and LiFePo4. Could be as simple as a decent modern regulator upgrade and an Antigravity after all.
  3. I'll check them out, thank you.
  4. I had (niavely) thought that the only things I had to think about when choosing a Lithium battery for my project bike was, is it small enough to fit? and does it have enough cranking amps? I have been reading in horror some of the story's on here of these batteries bursting into flames or at least nearly combusting. Has anyone cracked this 70's/80's bike with Lithium battery riddle yet? I've been told that a new mosfet reg/rec will be all I need to make sure the lithium battery doesn't get over charged and decide to cook me and my bike. I have then been assured by a retailer (Rex) of mosfet reg/recs that that is not true and I will be BBQ'd if I use a lithium battery. There is a place in the states that say they have specific reg/recs for lithium batteries but at £140 plus the £200 for the Antigravity battery small enough and powerful enough for the job seems mighty steep! they set the voltage to 14v +/- .2 I believe any higher than 14.6v is when you start to get cooked? I'm more than happy to replace the reg/rec but was hoping to use a £50-£60 unit, so then I thought GEL battery! but I can't find any as small as an 8 cell lithium, anyone got any experience with these? I don't want to switch to GEL and get cooked anyway.

    GS650E

Gaskets and bolt sets arrived! Cylinder cover gasket was supposedly for 650e, l, gd and katana. It's almost good... Except for one bolt hole. It is the same as the one that was in there already so I trimmed it and fitted. I managed to find genuine e spec gaskets for the clutch and stator covers. 550 bolt kit, not so good. Seems there are either a lot of differences or my kit was crap or my engine has been drilled and tapped in places. Either way the bikes coming on nicely.

    GS650E

Hi all, I was lurking here months ago when I had a collection of GSX1100 parts cleverly posing as a single bike. Long story but now I have just taken on a 1981 GS650E, it's a project but appears to be all there and in fairly good condition. I need to get a few bits and pieces for it such as gaskets for the clutch cover, cylinder head cover, magneto cover and a set of stainless engine bolts since these are either shabby, knackered or missing. The gaskets are available on CMS but are fairly pricey. There are a load of gaskets on Eblag for GS650's but I'm not convinced they will be correct for the E since I understand that it had a slightly different engine to the shaft drive models. Also there are loads of engine bolt kits for 750's and 550'd but the only 650's are Katana's. Does anyone know if the engine covers and therefore gaskets were the same on the E (chain driven) and the other shaft driven 650's? And would a 550 engine bolt kit work with the 650? Thanks in advance.

    GSX1100 E?

Too much time scratching my head on this, I have another kid due in the spring so I've sold it to someone with more knowledge, ability and time. I'm now on the look out for another one that I'll have more chance of being able to complete. I'd like to find something that is at least 100% together, I've grown to really appreciate these big Suzuki's since starting to look into them so I'm keeping my eyes peeled! Thanks again for those that offered information and advice.

    GSX1100 E?

The more I dig the more I think I have a collection of different GSX1100 parts, I'm quite sure it's just a Frankenstien. However I am now fully decided to try and get a running riding bike from the parts that I have and from some I still need to get. Thank you to all who commented, your advice and help is really appreciated.

    GSX1100 E?

Thank you, that is very helpful. Tank is similar but fitment different.

    GSX1100 E?

Ohhhh....ewwww! that would explain a lot. Including the odd front end too maybe? it did come from a HD builder so a chpper version would fit.

    GSX1100 E?

I also found a cam cover gasket new and unopened but the label says its fop a GSX750, do they have the same cam cover?

    GSX1100 E?

Hi all, I've been in the garage doing some sorting (moved into this house in October and garage is still a dumping ground) I have found some more parts I didn't realise I had, such as a full wiring loom with Regulator/rectifier, switch gear and a brake pedal! not much to some but to me its quite a find! With Jonboy's advice in mind I looked at the bottom engine mount cover and it is removable, also the frame has GSX110 stamped on it so I think it is a bastardised GSX frame I have. I took some more pictures to show and hopefully these will make the model clearer/ give you all something to look at. More good news, I found a garage fairly close by that speacilises in restoring old Jap bikes. I spoke with the owner and he has a road and a race GSX1100 and he has agreed to look over the engine and tell me if it's a goodun or not. So long as I pay him to do a top end rebuild if it's got a clean bill of health. Thank you all for your help and advice so far. P.S. some of these photo's may seem a little odd, I thought that they might help someone identify it's true year. The thing that has me most confused is rear mud guard, in all my searching I have never seen a GSX1100 with a chrome gaurd or rear light like that.

    GSX1100 E?

Thanks Jonboy, I'm going to put in some garage time later and will report back my findings. The sanctions on the forks are totally knackered and I dare say the springs, oil and seals are too so I will look for a complete B12 front end for it.

    GSX1100 E?

I may still have loads of parts missing but it looks like I've got some names options for the project!

    GSX1100 E?

Very true and the same thing has crossed my mind. It's certainly easier than tracking down all original parts. There was a great bike shop near me that built this GS750. If I was to go cafe I'd like to do something similar.
