  2. Good afternoon all, I'm new to the forum so please be gentle....and if you cant be gentle please make it amusing :-) I'm soon to be the proud owner of a 1992 GSXR1100M albeit it is in a rather sorry state and requires a lot of TLC to get it back to its former glory. But, I've never been afraid of a bit of elbow grease and scuffed knuckles hence taking the challenge on. There's lots to do but before I submerge myself in a full restoration (bikes to keep by the way not 'do up and sell on again' as I have always wanted one) I wonder if the collective would be kind enough to answer a few questions regarding potentially making it into a 7/11 rather than keep it stock ? :- 1) Would the 1100 tank and seat unit fit a 750M model frame ? If not what mods would be required ? 2) What mods are required to fit a M model 11 engine into an M model 750 frame ? I understand the rear engine mount will need modifying but unsure on anything else ? 3) Are there any other issues in doing this swap ? (electronics, fuel taps and lines etc) There will likely be plenty more to ask but for now that seems a reasonable start. I'm torn with the option of keeping it as an 11 or doing a 7/11. My head tells me keep it 'as is' but my heart says 'why the hell not'!!!! If its fairly straight forward and I may go the 7/11 route but if it means far too much messing I will just restore it.....because I don't want to delay riding it for too long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all in advance of any help and advice it will be much appreciated. Cheers. :-)
  3. Trying to find out what the .... is wrong with my bike. My 7/11 has BST36’s from the 750 engine. Pilot 40, Main 150, mixture 2,5 out and needle in middle clip. Needles seem to be dynojet and are new, just as emulsion tubes. Seemed like a good starting point. Tried to do a test run today : nice weather and bike starts ok and runs fine on idle. It picks up good on throttle and runs on all four cilinders. Riding is a different story : runs rough like on three cilinders and wont go past 4-5000 rpm ; doesn’t pull through.... When warm it cuts out on closing throttle and is difficult to start again. Is it fuel or electrical? Any ideas anyone?

  5. Hello all. New member here. I am building a Slabside 7/12 and have used a bandit donor including its loom. My problem is what to do about the speedo and rev counter as the bandit ones don’t suit the slabby race replica style that I am going for. Ideally, I don’t want to do too much electrickery so a plug and play solution would be best if possible. Surprisingly, given that the bandit is such a magnet for modifiers, I can’t find much out there as a direct replacement. I am not against a digital dash but I would want a decent size screen. Not one of the little ones that you see on MX bikes (Vapor etc.) I have considered, as a last resort, butchering the bandit clocks and mounting them on a plate with a foam surround to try and get something close to the look I want but I think this would be a bit half-arsed. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
  6. Posted this question earlier in “projects” which probably is the wrong place to receive replies... My 7/11 has BST36’s from the 750 engine. Pilot 40, Main 150, mixture 2,5 out and needle in middle clip. Needles seem to be dynojet and are new, just as emulsion tubes. Before I put the bike on a dyno for a test I am in doubt if I should continue with the 36’s... Because : I recently bought a set of 40’s from a good running 1100 ( wich had original airfilter and exhausts) Shall I stick with 36’s or use the 40’s ? My bike has K&N pods and a 4-1 exhaust ( unknown brand stainless headers with Yoshimura muffler) All advice is welcome in regards of settings for either 36 or 40mm Thanx
  7. Hi folks, just joined. I was a member here years back on the old forum (don't know if anyone remembers?), but 10 years ago I had a break from bikes after about 27 years of being pretty intense about it, and sold my 7/11 to a friend. Long story. Anyway, just recently I had a go on a cousin's bike, and decided I needed one. So I bought two! I approached the new (if you can call 10 years new) owner and he agreed to sell the bike back to me as he hadn't been using it that much and has other irons in the fire. (I believe he's a member here BTW). I originally bought the bike as a stock 750 back in 97, and it's gone through various iterations since then. Currently it is 1085 Wiseco, Kent Race Cams, Mikuni flatslides, GSXR1100g/h forks, Metmachex swinger etc etc. It does 110bhp at the back wheel. I've sold it twice and bought it back both times now. (I know, WTF!!) The first pic is when it was reviewed by Classic Mechanics, and the second was taken yesterday Cheers! Martin.
