  1. Hello arnout. Took the carbs out and found out the problem. The main jet was screwed in on the right carb but the pilot jet wasn't screwed in at all and it was causing a way too heavy flow of fuel and it was coming out the manifold and it's all fixed and i screwed the jet in and everything works perfect!!
  2. Hello. So I have run into many problems on my 1990 gs500e. Any advice on any? Bike revvs up by itself every 10-12 seconds. Idles very very high. When i rev, it takes a long time to go back down in RPMs. Black smoke when revving. Other than that everything is perfect. carburetor is rebuilt and everything is set perfect. I did a bench sync but not a professional carb sync which is probably the problem. but please give input. seems like a vacuum leak to me but i haven't been able to eye it down, plugged the one vacuum line i found and it does fine, but i checked the boots on each side and they are okay. sprayed carb cleaner and it did nothing on any of the boots. So i'm assuming i just need a professional carb sync. Please give in all the input possible
  3. Any one know how to remove this carbs shaft assembly? Possibly by the points where the tip of my screwdriver are at?
  4. hello all. need some advice, the hole on the left, the butterfly snaps back easy when the throttle is given then off quickly. when you come off the throttle quickly the butterfly on the right goes down very very very very slowly. causing the left one to go down slowly when touching which is all the time. any advice? also feel free to give any other tips?
  5. Hey johnr I took your advice and am now looking for shorty/megaphone exhausts for the bike. Not worth the noise complaints and the carburetor issues. Plus you're right, easy off baffle for fun!! thank you lots to all who responded!!! v/r Ricky
  6. Hello I honestly just planned on binning the can and silencer, but I wanted something to look somewhat or exactly like the picture below. (Keep in mind, I pulled these pictures from screenshots of youtube) I just should probably cut down near a foot from the stock can and then add that stainless steel end-piece. I just don't know how or what to even use. Obviously fabrication is gonna need be done, which is easy for me. But what materials or does anyone have any ideas on where to get something like this or the piece of stainless steel itself orrr? Not much care for how loud or how quiet. Obviously the more aggressive sound and tone is needed/wanted. Just want to know if anyone has any ideas maybe that are easy or DIY or kits in mind?
  7. Hello Guys. I'm back with some more questions about my GS. So I currently want to make a custom exhaust from stainless steel myself.. obviously a pipe that's already ready to be cut sort of thing. Yes, I understand that basically straight piping the bike is bad and will create a vaccum to suck cold air in, yes I know. I understand all of the risks. What I do not understand is what to use and where to even start? It's a 1990 GS500E. I want to cut down past the can about maybe 6-8 inches and create an outer facing hole so instead of the exhaust end-hole facing behind me, it faces directly to my left or at an angle towards the back. Someone please fill me in on how and what I can do to get this started.
  8. Hello all. I am new to the Suzuki Community and am very excited what is ahead of me on this. I am looking forward to getting a new to me but old to age a 1990 GS500e. It's saw better days, it seems to need a carb rebuild kit (already ordered), needs a battery (will pickup in the future), But on the right side of the engine case, there is a hole about the size of a half-dollar. It is a common thing on most of the GS's that I see, but a lot of times I see them covered by a Suzuki Emblem, I would think that it needs a plug or something, such as some dual sports, they are called Engine Plugs. Was just curious if I need to buy a part for this or if I can just throw the adhesive logo over it? attached files are both of the right side of the bike, please look down at the engine case and give me some feedback. Thank you all -Ricky
