Poking the Kat Posted Thursday, May 26, 2005 by Mr.7/11
Rod Gibson, editor of the magagazine Classic Motorcycle Mechanics is building himself a big-bore Kat to do some straightlining.
In this month's issue (May 2005) he describes how he has the frame braced according to the OSS method.
I never read the mag before, but it's a must if you like bikes from the eighties. The problem is you feel really old when you're done ;-)

While we're scanning here's an article called Project GSX-R Endurance Racer scanned from Cycle World magazine December 1988. One of the first SevenElevens spotted in a magazine.
Thanks to Del for sending me the mag and Bodyglove for the scan.
Suspension Setup Day 2005 Posted Friday, May 20, 2005 by Mr.7/11
Due to popular demand I'm organising another Suspension Setup Day on May 29th. This day has two purposes...
a.) setting bikes up for the coming season according to Mr.7/11's tried and tested method.
b.) a reason for a get-together
This time the day is hosted by Tinie Klerx from the new firm BikePenR so that we'll have a rather large workshop at hand instead of my small garage.
Programme:
10:00-12:00 Static setup in the workshop
12:00-13:00 Lunch
13:00-16:00 Preload- and Rebound damping adjustment on "test track"
16:00-17:00 Small tour on local roads to test setup and adjust geometry
18:00 Barbeque or alternative depending on weather
You don't *have* to be there at 10:00am, you can drop in any time, but ofcourse if you get there at 12:00 you will miss static setup (preload adjustment).
Do yourself a favour an make sure you have fresh oil in your fork and at standard level, and if you have a special C-spanner for your shock bring it along.
The day is free of charge, a small fee for the the food and drinks is asked for but nowhere near "horeca-level". ;-)
The day will *not* be cancelled due to bad weather!
Try to let me know if your coming and with how many people (the more the merrier but recently finished projects are given priority and I do not touch H*nda's) on the .infoBoard or send me an e-mail if you're not registered.
StreetFighters Show 2005 Posted Thursday, May 12, 2005 by PerversePolisher
Streetfighters was at a new venue this year and had joined forced with the Midlands Big Bike Show at Stoneleigh Park. The the whole weekend was fairly busy for the OldSkoolSUZUKI site members who manned the stand over the weekend. Obviously we're now expecting a large influx of new site members ;-)
So a big thank you to those of you who helped out, and a massive CONGRATULATIONS to Janner, for winning Streetfighter of the Year with his stunning Martek GSXR.

Bike of the Month - May 2005 Posted Saturday, May 7, 2005 by Mr.7/11
There's lots of projects being finalized at the moment, and one that I've personally been waiting for is Maggotbreath's slabby with R1 running gear. I especially like the "just do it" approach instead of trying to tackle every possible problem in advance asking loads of questions on the .infoBoard and the originality in the parts used. When I told him it would become Bike of the Month he took it for a run around town and came back with some very nice pictures of the bike in urban scenery.
More pictures and a place to discuss this bike here
btw. I know, another black bike. Just can't help it :-X
Katana.project undertray/electrics tray finished Posted Thursday, May 5, 2005 by Mr.7/11
Beforehand I couldn't have imagened how much work would go into this and the complexity of the construction. But after a lot of cutting/welding/milling/turning and most importantly bashing away with a large hammer on aluminium it's finally done, only needing some minor finishing. Next up is altering the seat to match and mounting the nitrous solenoids and bottle. (btw. nobody with a worn metzeler 240 I can use for mock-up purposes yet? ;-)
Discuss the Katana.project here.
